Many hospitals and clinics do not provide after hours cardiac echocardiogram interpretation. Many E.R. physicians prefer to view the results of an echocardiogram to rule out myocardial infarction and to help identify whether an area of the heart has been damaged. Currently, many scans are not performed since an interpretation is not readily available. Interpretation of scans performed during the night may not happen until final dictation the following morning; this facilitates unnecessary and expensive patient admissions.

Many cardiology studies, especially studies performed during off-hours, do not have timely interpretation. Many facilities do not offer cardiology imaging when there are no cardiologists available for interpretation.

Delay in reporting results in suboptimal care and inefficient workflow.

Interpretation of only a few studies off-hours is not an efficient use of cardiologist's manpower.
